Follow-up: Spotting while on the pill can be normal but that depends on how much breakthrough bleeding you are having. Normal bleeding on the pill will generally consist of a small amount of spotting that can be managed by using a panty liner. However with a large amount of blood loss or extended moderate bleeding there could be a more serious problem in which case have an exam by a gynecologist.
