A vaginal infection: causes the vaginal tissues to be especially sensitive and easily irritated. Manual stimulation that may be well tolerated and not result in any problems in normal circumstances can cause the symptoms you describe when done in the presence of an infection. Metronidazole typically is prescribed for trichomonas or a bacterial infection. Take sitz baths, continue med, avoid further trauma to the area!
