Yes: Urine and blood tests are used to detect the infection in chronic bacterial prostatitis. Sometimes a doctor might massage your prostate and test the semen secretions for the infection. Treatment for this condition consists of antibiotics, drugs called alpha blockers which help relieve symptoms & nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Warm sitz baths & limiting caffeine & alcohol seem to help sxs.
