Yeast: Candidiasis, or yeast infection, is a common cause of vaginal itching. The resulting irritation can cause increased blood flow to the labia, making them appear a brighter red. Other causes of vaginal itching that would cause this type of inflammation would be a hypersensitivity reaction to a soap/detergent/hygiene product used.
