A member asked:

Will tea tree oil help dry up a genital herpes outbreak?

No: It may provide some local anesthetic effects, but does nothing for the outbreak. Valtrex (valacyclovir) or another antiviral will help shorten the outbreak duration. Maintenance Valtrex (valacyclovir) will prevent or minimize future outbreaks.

Possibly: If I had not seen it with my own eyes I would have been skeptical but I have seen genital and oral lesions as well as shinges lesions and molluscum respond to essential oils. Tea tree oil as well as Helichrysum, Lavender , Cedarwood and Frankincense have all produced good results for my patients. They can be applied directly to the lesions or diluted in fractionated cocconut oil.
