Hepes Simplex 1: Is generally an ssue above the waist while HSV2 is below the waist but you can have either in either place. In theory, either can be spread at anytime but they are both more likely to be spread during the prodrome (warning) or actual outbreak stages of the lesion. Chance are small that if he hasn't had an outbreak in a year that he could give it to you but it is possible.
