Can someone with multiple sclerosis have children?

Depends on situation: I have one wonderful mom whose 3 kids (all after ms dx) are just wonderful.

Multiple sclerosis : Yes the person with multiple sclerosis can have children. The question is what medication, if any , they could use to reduce relapse rate during pregnancy. There is data that suggests that Copaxone (glatiramer) is relatively safe. However most patients choose stop this medication during the pregnancy. Two new oral medications, tecffidera and teriflunomide should not be used if planning to carry a pregnancy.

Surely: If the ms does not cause sexual dysfunction, secondary to spinal cord involvement, no real problem, and the risk of children having ms is very low, around 1-3%. But, be aware that some basic meds may provide a challenge, especially aubagio, or Gilenya, (fingolimod) cause fetal abnormalities. But pregnancy is protective and may be a time for low risk of relapses.
