Dr thinks my elevated prolactin is from xanax (alprazolam) and birth control pills. i stopped taking xanax (alprazolam) a month ago, not bc pills. will prolactin go down now?

You'll find out soon: Go to f/u with your doctor and see it that happens. If not, your doctor should find other possibilities that are related to your hyperprolactininemia. At least in 2 studies -published at neuropsychobiology journal and hum. Psychopharmacology journal - xanax (alprazolam) have been linked to elevation of prolactin level- but i think overall risk of hyperprolactinemia associated to xanax (alprazolam) only about 1% or so.

Depends: It depends on how high the prolactin is. The risk of hyperprolactinemia due to the drugs is very small. You could keep an open mind and make sure there isn't something else causing it. If prolactin is > 200, this is too high and is not caused by medication.
