Mucous membranes: Herpes simplex occurs on mucous membranes. Herpes-zoster occurs on specific areas of skin in a nerve root distribution. Random pimples probably aren't herpes. Herpes lesions always have a blister in the middle of them early in the eruption. Then they crust over. Only way to be sure is to have an examination. See your doctor.
