HYMEN: The hymen is a membrane that surrounds or partially covers the external vaginal opening. It forms part of the external genitalia, and is similar in structure to the vagina. The effects of sexual intercourse and childbirth on the hymen are variable. The hymen may be lacerated by disease, injury, medical examination, masturbation or even physical exercise.

A normal body part: The hymen is the soft tissue that runs along the edge of the opening of the vagina. Hymens come in all shapes and sizes, and should be of no importance to a normal, health woman in this century. Women may be judged by their happiness, their friendliness, their compassion, and many other wonderful traits, but never by the condition of their hymens.
