Well: Pelvic inflammatory disease is an infection of the uterus which means the bacteria went up from the cervix. It is typifified by significant pain and chlamydia if often a causative agent. Chlamydia is a bacteria which can be carried asymptomatically or can be limited to the cervix but can cause the clinical problem of pid. That's why we screen for it so heavily; good luck.
