Sperm motility: Sperm lose viability after 1 hour in the vagina but can survive up to 3-4 days beyond the cervix. Sperm can reach at the end of the tubes 10-15 min after ejaculation. Sperm can travel fast when the cervical mucus is clear and thin (2-4 days before ovulation); however, once ovulation occurs, the mucus gels up and thicken in order to protect the uterine cavity, thus making sperm movement much harder.

Fast!: Studies have shown that 1-2 minutes after intrauterine insemination (iui) the sperm can reach the fimbriated end of the tube where the egg is!
