Usually none: "depo" is effective birth control and side effects are uncommon. Irregular bleeding is common initially but is usually light and tends to get better with time, missing a period for an extended time often occurs after several months but is not a medical problem. Weight gain is sometimes a concern and may require careful food control and regular excercise.
