Good birth control: Implanon is a small rod about the size of a matchstick that is inserted underneath the skin of the upper arm that slowly releases a progestin hormone that very effectively presents pregnancy for 3 years. It is easy to insert using numbing medicine, takes a very short time to insert, and is as effective as sterilization. A similar device, called Nexplanon is now available.
