My son recently developed a circular rash on his leg shortly after taking an antibiotic. Does this mean he's allergic to the antibiotic or could it be from something else?

Possibly allergic: The rash should be examined to see if it is indeed allergic, and if so, is it related to the medicine or something else. Although this could be an allergic reaction, studies show that as many as 90% of people who report they are allergic to a medication actually have no allergy when tested.

See your doctor: Sounds like an acute allergic reaction. You should see your doctor immediately.

Women: By and large, because women (in a traditional setting of penile-vaginal intercourse type sex) are the 'receptors' and have secretions deposited inside them, they are more likely to obtain infections than men. This is especially true for things like hiv.

Fungus: Burning and rash in the groin could be caused by yeast or rungs infection. Fungus has a sharp border with scaling amd yeast has small red pus like spots in an irregular shape. Mild cases are treatable with cream. More extensive cases may need oral drugs such as Diflucan (fluconazole) or ketoconazole.

Depends on your hist: It all depends on your medical history. Your medical history (how this all developed, what medical issues you normally have, what medicines you take, lifestyle considerations), is what lets your doctor know what risk factors you have and allows him/her to narrow the list of possibilities down and come up with just a few possible diagnoses to choose from. Looking at the rash helps too.
