A member asked:

Is it possible for men to have hpv under their finger nails?

Possible, yes: The hpv virus doesn't live for very long away from the genitals or mouth of a human host. If someone is touching an hpv infected organ and then they use the same fingers to touch a different part of your body, hpv can be transferred via this sexual contact.

HPV under Nails: Transmission of hpv through routes other than sexual is definitely possible. One may be exposed to hpv simply by shaking hands as suggested in the finding of hpv virus under fingernails. Sexually transmitted infections 1999 oct;75(5):317-9:.
