Probably bad. : The vaseline only keeps the area moist which would delay healing and it doesn't kill the virus. Abreva is what would work better for cold sore when you first feel the tingle in the lip area. It keeps the area dry to heal faster. Valtrex (valacyclovir) used at initial onset is good systemically, but best combo with abreva. You can also use laser treatment at initial tingling onset also with your dentist.
