Depends: This would depend on the nursing home and the personnel both in charge and actually caring for the residents. You & your family should visit and interview several nursing homes to make sure they can provide the kind of environment that will meet your loved one's needs. The good ones are interested in each person and try to integrate them into the community. Good luck to you and your loved one.

Varies.: Usually about a month is the time. For somebody to become adjusted to a nursing home. Staff does not usually deal well with individualistic people so that i would sit down with them and explain the independence that you mention.
