16-18 weeks: Sex is usually determined with confidence by 16 weeks.
Dr. Elisabeth Goodall
Emergency Medicine 19 years experience
13 Weeks: Although occasionally the sex of the fetus can be discerned by week 11, ultrasounds done after the 13th week are 95-100% accurate in identifying the sex of the fetus... That is, assuming there is no malformation of the genitals. Good luck!

By measurements: the crow-rump (head-bottom) lengths of the fetus and looking up from the chart, one can easily estimate the gestational age from fetal ultrasound imaging study.
Dr. Stephen Richards
Obstetrics and Gynecology 42 years experience
Early on (first trimester) the CRL is used. As the baby gets bigger, other measurements are used: BPD, a measurement across the head from side-to-side at a specific level. These and other measurements are tabulated on standard growth charts. Accuracy lessens as the pregnancy progresses.
