3 packs and 3 refill: What i normally do is prescribe 3 packs of birth control pills (three months) at one time, with three refills. When the refills are up, it's time to go back in for a yearly checkup. This may or may not include a pap smear (women in a monogamous relationship that have had normal pap smears can decrease frequency of pap smears to every 2 years).
