A member asked:

What constitutes as "perfect" birth control use? i am going to start taking my ocp tonight as it is the 1st day of this month's period. my physician stressed taking the pill at the same time every day. is there more to it than that?

Do take the pills at about the same time each day. If you take any other medication, herbals, over the counter drugs, consult with your doctor to make sure that the additional medication would not interfere with the action of birth control pills. You may consider and IUD. Wish you good health!

Abstinence or vasectomy or tubal ligation are most reliable in that order.
