A 33-year-old member asked:
what's the difference between hsv-1 oral herpes and hsv-2 oral herpes viruses?

Dentistry 43 years experience
No diff: There really is no difference between the two except the location on the body where they are found.
Dentistry 20 years experience
Practically nothing.: There is some difference in their viral RNA but both viruses act the same and are treated similarly.
Cosmetic Dentistry 39 years experience
Almost the same: They are now found in both the mouth and genital areas at just about the same rate. They have the same mode of action and cause the same problems.
