Stroke, blood clots: Lawyers tend to sensationalize potential side effects of medication. Birth control pills have been associated with an increase in strokes, blood clots etc. Even so, birth control pills are safer than being pregnant. If you still don't want to take them, you have other excellent options. Talk them over with your family doctor.

Fear of BC pills.: You already received some exceptional advice. Don't know what your specific concerns are. However, the best way to counteract fear is to educate yourself. You can do this by learning more about your oral contraceptive (try Mayo Clinic sites), talking with your doctor or your pharmacist.
