Many effects: Rape victims may feel very anxious and unsafe after the event. They may feel fragile, vulnerable weepy, and jumpy -- or alternatively, very numb and detached, going through the motions of life. Their view of the world and others may change drastically. Such an experience is traumatic and painful. Medicines may help manage some symptoms, but support and psychotherapy are the foundation of care.
