Quickly and safe: Megestrol usually begins to work within 24 hours to decrease and hopefully stop dysfunctional uterine bleeding. It is a safe medication. Additional megestrol is safe. If you contionue to have bleeding with sex, please inform your md. Postcoital bleeding can sometimes indicate a cervical disorder such as dysplasia and uncommonly cervical cancer.
