Can syphilis be caught from a simple dry kiss?

Lesions: There would have to be an active syphilitic lesion(chancre) on the other person's lips in order to transmit the infection to you.

Syphilis: This is very unlikely. If, however, there are active lesions on the dry lips of the person kissing you (chancres, secondary syphilis lesions), these are often teeming with spirochaetes and these have been shown to be able to penetrate through intact skin.
