Happens.: but certainly cannot rule out an infection causing it. Pain/fever would be strong reasons to get checked out. If it goes away... tricky to know what to do with it.

Irregularity: Sometimes your period will vary - heavier, lighter, darker or lighter blood, several days late or early. Often this is brought on by stress, illness, change in medications.
