A member asked:

What are the symptoms of genital herpes between blister outbreaks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NONE: But we know that the virus is present occasionally between attacks. Thus you may be contagious when there are no symptoms. In fact most transmission occurs from a person who does not know she carries the virus or from a known infected person during a time with no symptoms. Antiviral meds reduce the risk of infecting another person but are not 100% effective.
