Not the shot: It's not the Depo that is preventing pregnancy a year later. It's effects last only about 3 months. It's time to consider work up as to why she has not become pregnant if you are actively trying, but it isn't the shot.

Is she having period: A single depo-provera injection just protects from pregnancy for 3 months, however it can disrupt the menstrual cycle for up to a year. If she is having regular periods then I would have her see a gynecologist, if not then when periods regulate she should be able to ovulate again and become pregnant. We always warn patients that it may take up to a year to be fertile again after a Depo-Provera shot
