It is but ...: The "pull out" method isn't particularly reliable, but oral contraception is quite effective. If you really are an "ideal" user - as in take it every day without fail - the failure rates are reported on the order of 0.3%(that's super effective). For "average" person - who does miss a dose here and there - the failure rates are reported in the range of 9%(still good but not great).
