Can the herpes virus cause your lip to have localized swelling and a hard lump beneath the inside of your lip? and there are no blisters.

Not usually: Sounds like something else, such as a mucocele. Check with your doctor.

Mucocele: This could be an epidermal cyst, if within the lip. A mucocele tends to be a translucent, visible pea like swelling on inner aspect of lower lip. They usually spontaneously resolve in 2-3 weeks, but could be excised by an oral surgeon if bothersome.
