Birth control: Hi, in first 2 months of pill treatment another modality of birth control like condom is recommended.

Switching OCP's: As long as there is no gap between taking the new and the old you should be fine. Otherwise, need to use a backup plan like condoms for 7 days.

Birth control pills: It depends on the type of pills and when you start them. For combined pills: if you start them when your bleeding stops then you are protected,but if you start them at any other time, it takes at least a week to work effectively. progestin only pills generally work as soon as you start them, but still I would give it a couple of day.
