Herpes Simplex?: Given the description you have provided, I am concerned that you may have genital herpes, and that this represents a chancre--as you mention. Genital herpes is incurable, regretfully, but also recurrent--meaning that it can come back even if you are not having sex. I would recommend discussing this with your primary physician, and possible starting on the medication acyclovir for suppression.

Tricky not seeing it: Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health, Dermatologic conditions are hard to evaluate without seeing them in person. Non-std skin conditions (boils, cuts, skin tears) can occur. Std's can occur long after sex. Syphillis would generally be sooner and it is rare Herpes can occur at any time and it is common
