Herpes Simplex?: Given the description you have provided, I am concerned that you may have genital herpes, and that this represents a chancre--as you mention. Genital herpes is incurable, regretfully, but also recurrent--meaning that it can come back even if you are not having sex. I would recommend discussing this with your primary physician, and possible starting on the medication acyclovir for suppression.
