No damage. Help yes.: First, "profound" is a subjective word. Second, no it does not cause brain damage. However, anything can become an "addiction" that interferes with our "normal" life and "takes over." If all a person does is watch pornography and continues to isolate from others, or worse, can only get sexual gratification from pornography, yes it is a problem. It can be reversed with psychotherapy.
