A few ideas: The bleeding could be from the vagina, or it could be from the uterus. If from the uterus, it could be breakthrough bleeding due to hormonal fluctuations in your cycle. If due to the vagina, or cervix, could be due to to breakage of small blood vessels. An exam by a gynecologist can help diagnose the latter. You mentioned 'a lot' .... So maybe an exam would be a good idea, just to be safe!
