A member asked:

Help please? what is the difference between ortho cyclen and ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) birth control pills?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The dose of hormones: OrthoCyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) is monophasic means you take the same dose of hormones everyday. OrthTryCiclen is thriphasic meaning you take a smaller dose at the beginning a higher dose during the middle of your cycle to prevent ovulation and a lower dose during the last week to have your period. It depends on your medical history and your sensitivity to oral contraceptives what determines which is best for you.
