A member asked:

Please explain if it is possible to be born with an std/sti?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Vertical transmission (mother to baby) of a variety of std's is possible. Those with a blood phase like syphilis are not as likely if the mother receives prenatal care where this can be identified and treated before baby has problems with it. Herpes, gonorrhea ; chlamydia can be picked up by baby during birth. Others are also possible.
