Trying to find virus: Molecular testing usually means a test that looks for actual fragments of the virus. For example, a test to detect traces of actual herpes virus dna (such as from a swab of a suspicious broken skin sore) would likely show a positive result if herpes viruses are in the sore. Contrast that to a herpes igg positive blood test, which merely says the person has had herpes sometime during her life.
