I have some kind of floater in my eye. how long to wait before going to an eye doc?

Right away: Most floaters are harmless, however, occasionally retinal tears and retinal detachments are associated with it. If you see it in the middle of night, its probably not worth it to go to the er then, but most ophthalmologist would say see an eyemd the next few days if possible as long as you have no other sympto. If you see a large dark shadow however, it does warrant an immediate visit to the er.
