Depends upon stage.: Cancer of the urethra is not a very common malignancy but can happen. If a urethral cancer is small and has not spread (low stage), then the cancer may be treated by local therapy and cured. If a urethral cancer is large, deeply invasive and has spread to lymph nodes or other organs (higher stage disease), then it could be a serious problem. Stage is the most important prediction for outcome.
