Blocked nose/ears: Hello. Things you can do to rid of blocked ears and nasal passages is to begin saline nasal spray. If this doesn't work after a week, then step up therapy to using Afrin nasal spray for 5 days only. That should help. After 5 days, if it still is bothering you then begin using Nasacort (triamcinolone) every night.

Viral infection: A blocked nose associated with blocked ears is usually the result of a viral upper respiratory infection leading to edema (swelling) of the Eustachian tube. A decongestant, plenty of fluids and OTC nasal drops for 3 days at the most might help. If this is viral infection, it should clear in about 3 weeks. If not see an ENT doctor.
