Are there any over-the-counter pills to help with alcohol withdrawl symptoms?

No: It is difficult to predict the severity of alcohol withdrawal syndrome. It may cause increase of heart rate, blood pressure, sweating, confusion, and even hallucinations and seizures. Many patients do not need to be in a hospital, but they need good medical treatment. This is even more important in older people (sorry, more than 40 year old) with other problems, such as hypertension, diabetes, etc.
