Can the stomach flu go away on its own?

Yes.: Stomach flu by definition is triggered by a virus. Viral infections/flu are typically self-limited diseases, going away without specific treatment by "running its course". But complications of the viral illness such as dehydration, abdominal pain, high fever, etc. Can be problematic. Consequently, most patients seek help to avoid or prevent these worrisome side effects. So call your md for advice.

Yes: Stomach flu always goes away on its own, usually in 1-3 days, though occ. lasts up to a week. The greatest danger is dehydration so drink lots of fluids but replace electrolytes.I advise vegetable broth- simmer greens, onions, potatoes, carrots for 20 min.,add salt and drink the broth.Chicken broth is good too. Consider homeopathy, probiotics, garlic, ginger, cinnamon. See http://tinyurl.com/y93nvuuh
