Risky: To mix a clearly contraindicated substance with alcohol (both causing CNS depression) is very risky. Not necessarily lethal each time you try, but to take that risk is reckless. Call 911 if you feel suicidal. Consult your dr, and please do not mix meds with alcohol. Best wishes.

Best to not mix!: Alcohol and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) are both depressants to the brain. Unfortunately you can take one or the other with relative safety, but when mixed they create synergy. That is, a "1+1=3" effect, or worse if you happen to take other meds. At 63, you already know you don't heal or react the same to the things you may have taken or done as a young adult. Medications are no different--your liver/ kidneys know!
