Always Finish: Always finish the prescribed days and instructions for the antibiotics, even if signs and symptoms are improving...This is important as to not end up causing resistant bacteria/ or organisms that are super resistant. Also, make sure the source of infection has been resolved, i.e. Extraction or root canal if it is tooth related, and if something else make sure you see specialist, biopsy, etc.

Yes: Finish out the full duration of prescribed antibiotics. You don't want to half-treat an infection, only to have it come back again! nor, do you want to short-circuit your treatment and "teach" the bacteria how to be resistant to that antibiotic. This drainage is a good sign. Build on that and finish off the treatment completely. Extra points for phoning your doc with the good news update!
