It is fever!: . If the child is acting normal you can watch and re check the temp. Fever reducer meds helps to relieve the symptom but does not do anything to the underlying problem. Fever reducer does not affect the immune system but i would give the correct dose occasionally for short term fever or pain relief.Sounds like you child has common cold and the fever can last for 3 to 5 days.

Temperature control: Push fluids, use trpid baths when you see the temperature start to climb. Substitute Ibuprofen instead of panadol (acetaminophen) it controls temp more effectively.
