Dvt: It is a good idea to give it at least 3 weeks before resuming vigorous leg activity after a dvt. A case can be made for getting. A follow up ultrasound to see if the clot appears to be gone before such activity.

Uncertain: There is evidence that early walking exercise can be started in uncomplicated DVT within the first day after appropriate anticoagulant treatment & use of compression devices. Walking daily anywhere between 1-5 miles is associated with improvements in pain & swelling, and no increased risk of pe, compared to bed rest. Currently we lack data on the safety of vigorous or aggresive exercise after dvt.
