15weeks pregnant. doctor said it was safe to take zantac (ranitidine).been taking one zantac (ranitidine)150 a night.but i hear it can cause birth defects.should i be worried?

No: I am not aware of any congenital defects associated with zantac (ranitidine) use. It is considered safe to use during pregnancy.

Category B Med: This medication has been studied in detail and placed in category b, which is one of the safest categories a medication can have related to its use in pregnancy. No birth defects are noted on animal or human studies. Sounds like your doc knows what s/he's doing.
