Not a bad idea: If the pain is not getting better and the swelling is not going down with regular icing (15 mins every few hours), you should have an xray. Most likely, your symptoms will improve as the swelling goes down.

Knee pain: Moderate to severe post traumatic knee pain aggrevated by bending , going up snd down stairs with swelling and bruces should be evaluated by a doctor first followed with appropriate investigations and treatments.

Have it evaluated: Have it evaluated by a professional. Depending on the severity of the injury treatment options include: bracing, casting, physical therapy, injections, and surgical repair.

If the pain : has been there for a while, u should have the knee examined by a physician and possibly imaged with MRI. Some inflammatory and neoplastic conditions may present this way. Good luck
