Glumetza or metformi: If you don't need Glumetza don't take it. If you don't use Metformin don't take it. Cancer is unlikely. What is necessary is a discussion with your doctor about your diabetes meds. At age 40 you most likely have type 2 diabetes. This is a good time to start planning to rid yourself completely from diabetes. I suggest you see a dietitian to help you.

No: To say that it’s better wouldn’t quite be accurate - Glumetza is the extended-release form of metformin that affords fewer dosing times. This drug has not been known to cause cancer in the medical literature (I did do a cursory search to look for web chatter, and still did not see anything), and it was approved by the FDA on June 3rd 2005.
